Dr David Pattison was appointed as joint leader of the Free Radical Group in 2014. David is a dedicated and highly accomplished researcher, and is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney.
The Free Radical Group has shown that a number of novel compounds containing selenium atoms can act as efficient antioxidants, protecting the body against damage caused by a variety of oxidants produced during inflammation.
A number of the Inflammation and Free Radical Group members have travelled to Boston to present their recent, unpublished data at a conference, with two scientists presented with awards and two selected to give additional oral presentations.
Cassidy Moeke is originally from Wellington, where he studied Biomedical Science at Victoria University. In 2013 he arrived in Sydney and found himself at the Heart Research Institute.
