Introducing the Glenys Fitzpatrick Scholarship

Posted 2nd April, 2025

The Heart Research Institute (HRI) is thrilled to announce the launch of the Glenys Fitzpatrick Scholarship, named in honour of one of our incredible supporters.

“I have been supporting HRI for over 20 years as a regular monthly supporter and now also through the funding of the Glenys Fitzpatrick Scholarship,” Ms Fitzpatrick shares. “I am proud to be a supporter and feel like my philanthropic gifts are helping to make a difference.”

Ms Fitzpatrick has a background in pharmacology, so she knows how important medical research is to better understand and address health issues.

"I support HRI because I believe the researchers there are working hard to advance our understanding and treatment of heart disease, and their work is helping to improve people’s lives."

The first recipient of the scholarship is Dr Jaideep Singh, a translational researcher and innovator with more than 16 years of experience in drug discovery biology. He will be working closely with Dr Chris Stanley and Associate Professor Mary Kavurma.

Prior to starting his position at HRI, Dr Singh was a postdoctoral researcher at Monash University, Australia. He has already made key contributions to developing new drug candidates for diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disorders.

Dr Singh said he was incredibly proud to receive the scholarship and to and meet Ms Fitzpatrick.

"Being awarded the Glenys Fitzpatrick scholarship is a tremendous honour and a milestone in my career," said Dr Singh.
