Biography
Associate Professor Carmen Parter, Girudala CEO Carmen is a proud Murri woman from Murrana, Juru & Darumbal clans of the Birra Gubba Nation with South Sea Island heritage. She has been a volunteer, clinician, educator, policy maker, manager of project teams, senior executive leader, theorist, and scholar. Presently, Carmen is the Girudala CEO, a community-controlled organisation, is on the Board of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency and works as an Associate Professor at Djurali Centre with two other Honorary/Adjunct Associate Professor appointments at Macquarie University and University of New South Wales.
Carmen is a Fellow of the Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives, and a Fellow of the Public Health Association of Australia. Carmen also received an international Indigenous Inquiry emerging researcher award in 2022. She’s a Granny, and Aunty to many, and lives on Country with her partner.
