Biography

Dr Xiao Suo Wang is a Senior Research Officer at the Heart Research Institute at Charles Perkins Centre, a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Sydney (Usyd). She has many years of experience in operations, maintenance, and applications of various types of liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. She has over ten years of experience managing independent mass spectrometry facilities at Bosch Institute of Usyd and Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, respectively. She has collaborated with more than 200 researchers on various mass spectrometry-based applications across multiple disciplines within Usyd and beyond. She has helped many research students complete their postgraduate degrees (PhD, Master and Honour degrees). She has led top ranking publications on novel metabolomics methodologies and applications. She is now working with Prof John O’Sullivan and focusing on a revolutionary project with potential to completely reframe the role of diet and environment of in utero cardiac development and its long term consequences on cardiovascular health. She also leads work investigating metabolomic, lipidomic, and cardiac fuel substrates in heart failure in both animal model and clinical trials. She is responsible for the IRMS analysis in collaboration with Robert Chisari and Jennifer Van Holst at ANSTO under the guidance of Prof O’Sullivan.
