The Heart Research Institute is a centre of excellence in cardiovascular medical research based in Sydney, Australia, affiliated with the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the University of Sydney.
The Institute is currently seeking highly motivated, results-focused PhD students to conduct research investigating the underlying mechanisms for progression of atherosclerosis with strong implications for the prevention of cardiovascular disease.
You will work as a core member of one of the interdisciplinary teams at the Institute to further investigate a number of newly identified mechanisms for the development of cardiovascular disease in a cutting edge research program with implications for translation of research findings to the clinic. A number of diverse projects from chemistry through to biology are available, which utilise a range of different state-of-the-art instrumentation from reaction kinetics, UPLC, mass spectrometry, proteomics to cell culture experiments, molecular biology, flow cytometry and small animal models. There will be unique opportunities to integrate basic science discoveries with translational studies to gain novel insights into cardiovascular biology and disease.
